After the terrorist attacks in France and Austria in recent weeks, calls for a ban on encryption for platforms and messengers such as WhatsApp, Signal and Co. are becoming very loud again. This ban is intended to oblige platform operators to build a backdoor into the encryption to facilitate the prosecution of terrorists and other criminals.

This not only means that forced weaknesses will be embedded in the security precautions of the platform operators, but also that basic personal rights such as freedom of opinion and privacy will be massively restricted. Political work, free journalism and confidential communication are also endangered by this, no matter on which level.
