Euthanasia should be legalised in Australia.

Euthanasia should be legalised in Australia.
The issue
Euthanasia is the intentional termination of a terminally ill or extremely sick patient's life in order to relieve them from suffering in pain. Otherwise commonly known as assisted suicide. A request generally comes from patients who are experiencing unbearable suffering with no prospect of improving. The patient's request must be made with full conviction. They must see euthanasia as their last resort. However, patients have no absolute right to euthanasia and doctors have no absolute duty to perform it.
So, why does Australia need this to be legalised? Well, in early 2018, Dr David Goodall, aged 104, fulfilled his final wish and he took his life through assisted suicide in a Swiss clinic, in a powerful statement in favour of voluntary euthanasia. Why did he have to go all the way to Switzerland to fulfil his last wish? Why did an Australian have to travel all the way to Switzerland to receive euthanasia? This is simply unjust, unfair for many like David Goodall; some may even be in worse condition than him, and a huge disgrace to Australia. We cannot let more people like David travel overseas when they might be in critical conditions die from euthanasia, instead, the Australian government needs to legalise euthanasia because we live in a civilised society where everyone should be able to die in dignity and without pain, after all, it should our choice, and it is our choice, and euthanasia should be legalised in Australia.
