A community alert siren is one of a range of community warning systems, devices and activities that can be brought to bear in an emergency.Upon hearing a prolonged siren signal, it is the responsibility of individual community members to seek further information regarding the emergency. It does not replace a comprehensive fire plan but the communities of Wye River and Separation Creek found it useful. The Warrandyte Community is familiar with the use of sirens as a warning for an emergency. Many residents of Warrandyte and surrounds would like to reinstate the community alert siren.
