Emergency Demand Intervention and Investigation into Sheriff Tony Williams' Actions in WI

Emergency Demand Intervention and Investigation into Sheriff Tony Williams' Actions in WI
The Issue
The Bayfield County Sheriff Tony Williams has neglected to handle the case of animal abuse and neglect (horses, particularly Endangered Spanish Mustangs) according to the law. A seizure warrant was executed on June 6, 2024 by the animal control officer, and 16 starving mares were transferred to foster protective placement by her. He did not complete the warrant. There was never a signed contract for placement, however we have the animal control paperwork at the time of placement. We have been billing the county for their care, and until December, were being paid. He has blocked the legal process at every step of the way, delaying completion of reports by the examining vet or withholding information from the DA, Kimberly Lawton. He bullied the animal control officer into resigning in September. He has been attempting to take the horses from protective placement and return them to their abuser. He has been threatening the foster providers with "legal consequences" if we do not comply. Some of the providers may buckle today. The case is ongoing, the DA has indicated to Rep. Angela Stroud that she is preparing charges. We have NOT received notification that charges are not going to be filed. Sheriff Tony Williams is acting outside the law, according to statute 173.22(4)(e).
Emergency intervention and an investigation into Sheriff Tony William's actions are requested.
It's time we ensure our voices are heard by those in power and demand legal and ethical conduct from our public officials. Please sign this petition and support us in seeking justice for the innocent creatures that suffered due to inaction and negligence.
