Ryan McCormick started this petition to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Costas represented the epitome of what it meant to be an Embry-Riddle Eagle and a professional pilot.  While attending ERAU, he not only excelled in his flight training and classes, but was involved in every single way that he could have been. He was a Resident Advisor, an Instructor Pilot, a member of the O-Team, and a founding member of the ALPA ACE club.

His contributions to the university didn’t stop after his graduation. As a resident of Port Orange, he could be seen on campus at least once a month in his pressed United Airlines uniform and ERAU Lapel pin speaking to classes, mentoring students in ACE Club, or just enjoying time with his students making his classic joke about how much college kids loved free pizza. To the day of his untimely death, he was involved at the university instructing and mentoring the future professional pilots of our industry in a way that no one else was.

Every person knew and respected his name. He represented to all of us that absolutely anything was possible and that the sky was truly the limit with the right amount of hard work and positivity.

Costas left nothing short of a legacy at our university. No other alumnus who graduated eight years ago had such a lasting impact on the campus that his death would leave our entire community mourning in the way that we are now.

For that reason, I humbly suggest that the university honor his legacy by naming one of the new unnamed buildings after Costas. It would be a beautiful tribute to the memory of the man who has individually made the biggest lasting impact on our school and profession in recent history.
