In Elton Louisiana there is a ‘city pound’ and the ACO needs to be replaced.  When you first arrive you will see the dogs cold & dirty while they sleep on the cement floor.  The one person who was networking dogs and getting them into rescues is no longer allowed on the property!  How can people come together to help when it’s considered trespassing if the one person can’t go on the property?  We have been informed that it is a “private shelter” that is run by the city, but small towns = the good ole boy system.  It’s sad to say that, but what kind of shelter doesn’t keep intake or adoption records and has an ACO that admits to shooting dogs that HE deems aggressive?! 
    He has admitted to shooting a Great Pyrenees point blank in the stomach because he looked mean, but the dog was playing with kids minutes before he went to the shelter.  A foster went to pick up three puppies and yes two growled out of fear and he told the foster he should shoot them versus let the foster take them!  The ACO has a special grave yard behind the shelter to bury these “aggressive dogs”.  With no one willing to hold him accountable and city council meetings just take up for him… SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!! Our goal with this petition is to get as many signatures as possible and then also bring it to the medias attention too.  With no record keeping and the dogs not being temperament tested how does the ACO deem them aggressive?  He’s shot small and big dogs because he’d “rather not get bit”..  How does he still have a job?  
  We have been to one meeting already and thanks to the council, Mayor and ACO all being buddies we were just shot down then laughed at.  The shelter has had blankets and dog houses donated, but they prefer to have them sleep on cold wet cement surrounded by trash.  If the ONE person was taking pictures/helping them get into rescues isn’t allowed on the property how will these babies ever get seen?  There is no Facebook page and he doesn’t personally share them..  If the city of Elton won’t do anything about it then we need to.  How would you feel if you thought you were doing the right thing bringing a stray to the shelter and next thing you hear is a bang?!
