We the undersigned wish to lodge our strongest opposition to this mast and request that the Council reject the application

• The health issues/concerns of emissions from mobile phone masts are well recorded.  The proposed placement of this mast is adjacent to Esher Church Primary School and playground.  It is also close enough to residential property to cause serious concern to parents and local residents.
• Current studies on the health effect on mobile masts are inconclusive.  While some may show "no evidence" of health risk, this is not the same as a declaration of safety.  Even Cancer Research is ambiguous, stating that negative impacts on health are "unlikely". The proximity of this mast to a Primary School means that no risk, however small, is worth taking with our children's developing brains, bones and bodies. 
•  Given the lack of conclusive research and the newness of this technology, citing a mast near a Primary School is inappropriate.  Children should not be involved in any kind of experiment with the effects of radiation.  

• Health concerns with this technology are accepted in many other countries.  In fact, masts are banned near schools in New Zealand, Sweden, Italy, Australia and parts of the United States.  There is a strong argument for banning them near schools in this country too.

• Mobile signal in the area is already strong, therefore there is NO NEED for this mast.

• Mast is unsightly.
• Although this application has been made by Esher Lawn Tennis Club, it is not supported by all members and there has been no vote, survey or poll of members to establish the level of support.  Many members are opposed to the mast.
• Broadsheets have published evidence of a reduction in the value of local house prices.
• The School affected had stated its objection to the phone mast.  Valuable time and resources will be taken up with the process of objecting to the mast, which would be better spent on the education and development of the children attending the school.
