Stop Cineplex from changing the SCENE Points program!
The Issue
Starting April 17th 2019 Cineplex is changing their Scene rewards program. Instead of redeeming 1000 points for a free general admission ticket it’ll now cost 1250 points. Other tickets will now cost more points now too. You’ll now earn 125 points per regular admission movie ticket which yes, it will still only take 10 movies to earn a free one. What about people who have been saving their points up? Now after April 17th the points people have now will be worth way less. Cineplex will argue they gave customers 60 days notice to use their points but that’s not a solution!
There probably aren’t many in my situation that don’t live near a Cineplex but I am one of the unlucky ones that won’t be able to use my points before the changes.
To make it fair for everyone if they really need to change the program, they should award each customer 250 points per 1000 points that they have built up, which would be 25 points per every 100. Why should the points we have saved up be worth way less now? I have seen numerous comments with people saying they will no longer go to Cineplex because of this, so I think that would at least save them some customers.
Another huge change they’re implementing is, they are removing the Scene Points combo deal. I don’t usually use my points for movie tickets, I always used them to redeem 1000 points for a large popcorn and large drink. After April 17th it won’t even exist anymore. Now it will be 1000 points = $10 off at the concession which everyone knows will go NOWHERE since everything is overpriced. As for the 2500 points deal, I read it will now cost 3500 points for two regular admission tickets, 2 medium pop, and a medium popcorn (quote me if I’m wrong please).
Why change something that isn’t broken? Sure movie ticket prices have went up but it shouldn’t mean all of the points we have now will be worth way less at the theatre. Either keep it the same or make it fair and reward us with points to make up for it! And please keep the Scene Combo as I know a lot of customers love being able to use 1000 points for it!
