How Is It Not Murder?! Justice For Keisha Marie White

How Is It Not Murder?! Justice For Keisha Marie White
The Issue
My name is J'nita Michelle & my niece, Keisha White COULDN'T BREATHE! Keisha died under the care of a white nurse who purposely caused her death! How is it not MURDER?! I cannot say race did not play a factor. I do not believe a white patient would have been mistreated as such to cause their death! This nurse, whose duty was to serve and protect, placed Keisha in restraints because the nurse was agitated according to witness statements, by Keisha's responses to hypoxia. Her job was to have patience and render care! Not take it personal and deny treatment & life-saving measures! The nurse than refused her oxygen even though she clearly needed it and in addition was confronted by staff members about Keisha's low oxygen levels. As if that wasn't enough, refused to put Keisha on her life saving monitors in spite of being told to do so by the monitoring dept. and REFUSED to help her as she laid there and died! According to witness statements from fellow co-workers, the nurse made comments about what she WAS NOT going to do in regard to placing Keisha back on her monitors. NO JUSTICE was served! Would she had adhered to other's concerns if Keisha was white? Would she had been so frustrated to place her in restraints and remove life saving measures when there were clear signs of hypoxia? NO! The hospital, Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC was found guilty of 6 (SIX) federal violations in regard to my nieces death.....this is all documented! WE as a family want justice and have never received it! Instead, the nurse was only suspended for 6 months. 6 months! Would anyone want such a nurse responsible for their loved ones care who committed such acts? She was never charged criminally. Neither was any of the other staff members or nurse supervisor who failed to make sure the nurse did what she was supposed to do! We believe there was so much cover up! We believe, after our own research, that many we went to for help had a vested interest in the hospital to include the District Attorney. No one would help my sister. She went to the FBI, the NAACP, the police dept. and anyone she could think of to help! I even took the documented reports to a media outlet here in Atlanta! My niece died!!!!!! She laid there and suffered and DIED in the room alone and could not push a button for help! She went into cardiac arrest due to lack of oxygen and died! The police aren't the only ones sworn to protect & serve! You wanna tell me that BLACK LIVES MATTER?! Hers mattered! I will cry MURDER until the day I take my last breath! Blatant refusal of life saving measures is murder! The only ones many care about are the ones that they can exploit for attention and media fame! I've marched with many of you for one issue or another. Protested. Volunteered. Sowed. Gave. But her life mattered! Her name was Keisha White! And she COULDNT BREATHE! We want justice to ensure this does not happen to another family! We want that nurse charged criminally! In addition, we are seeking to change laws in regard to the guidelines that hold health professionals criminally accountable! Please sign our petition! This was our family but it could one day be yours!
