I am a survivor of domestic violence by my own spouse. He had prior domestic violence charges. If he had been required to sign into a registry for domestic violence perpetrators, it would have been simple to look him up. Maybe I would have found him and would have saved myself brutal beatings. If we can have registries for pedophiles and rapists, why not for people who commit domestic violence? That's exactly what I want. I want a registry for domestic violence perpetrators so that both men and women can keep themselves safe. Theres a registry where you can look and see if this person has committed a rape; but the most planned out, repeated, hidden-shame-inducing misery? No, there simply isn't. This needs to change. I don't want my children to grow up and have to be faced with the same torment I went through for the longest times in my life. We owe it to the survivors of the past, the victims in the present, and change it to the none of the future.
