The Issue

As a student experiencing high levels of stress due to the excessive assignments from IXL Learning platform, I am taking a stand. IXL has become a significant part of our curriculum despite its ineffectiveness as a learning tool. Every week, my teacher assigns 12 exercises on this website which, to me, does not contribute to my learning at all. Instead, it induces unnecessary pressure and frustration, hampering my overall growth. I am far from alone in feeling this way; many students share this negative sentiment about IXL.

IXL is criticized for its punitive measures when an incorrect answer is entered. Rather than providing helpful insight into errors, this system encourages children to become afraid of making mistakes - a crucial part of the learning process.

Significant research suggests that stress has a detrimental impact on learners. According to a report by the American Psychological Association, teens suffering from high-stress levels have lower grades, poorer health, and damaging coping mechanisms.

Therefore, for the sake of student well-being and effective education, we demand the cessation of IXL's use in our school curriculum. We urge educators and school administrators to consider alternative teaching methods that foster a positive learning environment. Please support this cause by signing the petition.
