Being a high school student in AP classes you would think it to be full of hard working scholars. Unfortunately due to the use of AI this is not true. I’ve seen an increasing amount of students who have become reliant on AI. It has gotten to the point of not being able to generate a sufficient answer for simple comprehension questions. We are becoming lazy.

Many are unaware of the difference between AI and generative AI. Generative AI is the issue we should fight against. It’s websites like Chat GPT, Grok, Meta AI, etc. Generative AI creates the new where traditional AI copy’s the existing. Where Gen. AI becomes a problem is in our environment. Gen. AI is run in data centers that require insane amounts of energy and water. Fossil Fuels are the main source of this energy. This leads to increased CO2 admissions that eats away at our greenhouse gas layer. AI is only contributing to the climate crisis we are already facing. It’s also notable that the use of this energy in the data centers also spikes electricity prices for homeowners anywhere near the location of the data centers.

Overall it’s time to make a change AI is only hurting our environment and teaching our generation to be lazy. Please sign this petition to fight against generative AI!
