As a concerned global citizen, I am deeply troubled by the misuse of veto power in the United Nations Security Council. This petition seeks to address one such instance - The United States' use of its veto power in support of Israel. Between 1982 and 1990, this power was used 21 times – nearly half of all U.S.'s total vetoes supporting Israel. These vetoed resolutions were critical of Israel's aggression in Lebanon and its occupation of Palestinian territories. Since 2001, this pattern has continued with the U.S. using its veto for Israel another 14 times.

The unchecked use of this power undermines international law and obstructs peacekeeping efforts, thereby causing human suffering on a large scale - something no human should have to endure. It is time we invoke Article 6 to remove such unilateral powers that hinder constructive dialogue and conflict resolution.

We call upon all UN member states to consider this proposal for a more balanced and fair international system where every voice matters equally without being overshadowed by any single nation's veto power.
