As a former user of IXL, I know firsthand how stressful and frustrating the platform's "SmartScore" system can be. This system requires students to reach a score of 100 to complete a lesson, but each incorrect answer lowers their score. This not only causes unnecessary stress and frustration for students, but it also discourages learning through trial and error. In subjects like math and language arts, this pressure is immense; in science and social studies, the requirement to get answers correct consecutively only adds to the strain.

Furthermore, while IXL claims that it provides feedback on incorrect answers, this is not always the case. Without clear explanations for our mistakes, how are we supposed to learn?

This personal experience is not unique - countless other students face similar struggles with IXL daily. The current system does more harm than good by creating an environment where mistakes are feared rather than seen as opportunities for growth.

We call on IXL Learning to eliminate or significantly modify their SmartScore system so that it encourages learning rather than causing undue stress among students. Let's create an environment where education is about understanding concepts rather than chasing perfect scores!
