As a student at Cal State Los Angeles, I find myself digging into my pocket every week, spending roughly 20-40 dollars simply to park on campus grounds. This is a significant financial burden, detracting from funds for educational investment like textbooks, and creating unnecessary stress. But I am not alone in this; there are numerous other students facing the same problem at our university.

It's important to realize that affordability of education extends beyond just tuition fees. This is especially true where the average four-year student of Cal State LA spends an estimated upwards of $3000 on parking alone. While some might dismiss it as a minor expense, it certainly puts a dent in the budget of students, many of whom are already battling financial hardships.

Cal State LA prides itself on promoting accessible education for all, as stated in their mission statement, but charging students exorbitant parking fees contradicts this principle. We are calling on the university administration to acknowledge the financial burden their parking fees impose on students and eliminate the cost for student parking at Cal State Los Angeles.
