The Issue

Why this matters:
We, the residents of Lake Bluff, call on the Village Board of Trustees to officially eliminate the annual vehicle sticker program.
While originally designed to generate revenue, vehicle stickers have become an outdated, administratively burdensome requirement for residents. Over 30 surrounding Chicagoland communities including nearby towns, like Highland Park and Northbrook, have successfully abolished their sticker programs to modernize municipal operations and relieve residents of this annual compliance headache.
With modern Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) and state registration databases, physical window stickers are no longer structurally necessary for local law enforcement. Furthermore, the administrative hours spent by Village staff managing databases, physical mailings, and enforcement disputes create a point of diminishing financial returns.
We request that the Village Board place this item on an upcoming agenda to discuss phasing out the sticker program, freeing up valuable staff time, and aligning Lake Bluff with modern regional municipal standards. Sign this petition to show your support for a more efficient Lake Bluff!
