Eliminate Pollution Before It's Too Late

The Issue

Some researchers estimate that exposure to pollution causes 40 percent of deaths every year. This contamination of water, air and soil not only affects its creators (humans), but all the living organisms within it. Approximately 14 billion pounds of garbage, mostly plastic, are dumped into the ocean annually. This large, deep body of water may seem indestructible to some, but in reality, these oceanic ecosystems are increasing to suffer over the past few decades. Greenhouse gases like methane and carbon dioxide are emitted from the burning of fossil fuels everyday around the world. These pollutants lead to an increase in earth's temperature, altering the cycles of plants and animals. Equally important,  breathing these toxins in contribute to a number of health issues like respiratory infections. Continuing to produce these large amounts of pollution will lead us to a dangerous and unpredictable future with extreme global warming, negative impacts on our food/water, and many more unnecessary deaths. Recycling, car-pooling and saving energy are a few ways you may have heard of to help reduce pollution. On a larger scale, buying an electric car or using renewable energy instead of fossil fuels for our energy are ways the provincial government can help. Unfortunately, many people don't do any of these tasks, giving us less time to solve this issue. By signing this petition, you agree that an immediate change needs to be made about our pollution emission. Whether it be banning the extraction of fossil fuels to begin all solar, wind and water energy, or create heavier fines for people that cause small or large cases of pollution. People need to understand that their future and their family's future is at risk if not enough attention is brought to this issue. In hope of putting this plan into action, sign now.
