Eliminate Mandatory Waggle from Advisory Class in Colorado Schools

The Issue

As a student in Colorado, I've seen firsthand how our advisory class time is being consumed by mandatory waggle and membean practice. This time could be better utilized for completing homework assignments. Not every student has the luxury to complete their homework at home due to various reasons, making this 20-minute window crucial for them.

Advisory classes were initially designed to provide students with a safe space where they can get academic help, and work on assignments. However, the introduction of mandatory waggle and membean practice has deviated from this original purpose.

According to the U.S Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), nearly 15% of children aged between 6-18 years live in households below the poverty line in Colorado. For these children, finding quiet time or resources at home to complete their homework can be challenging.

By eliminating mandatory waggle from advisory classes, we can ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed academically regardless of their home environment. Let's bring back the true essence of advisory classes by focusing on individual student needs rather than compulsory practices that may not benefit everyone equally.

Please sign this petition if you believe that every child deserves an equal chance at academic success and support our call for change within our education system.
