Eliminate Mandatory Saturday Classes

Eliminate Mandatory Saturday Classes
The Issue
I have been pushed to my limits by the relentless cycle of stress and workload. Teachers are burdened too, with additional lessons to plan and conduct. Our current academic schedule includes classes on Saturdays, leaving no room for rest, personal development, or time to decompress. Educational institutions are supposed to foster growth, but this punishing schedule restricts us physically and mentally, making it difficult to perform to the best of our abilities.
An evidence-based report by the American Psychological Association establishes the direct correlation between students' mental health and academic performance. The report makes we aware that stress can interfere with learning and may also lead to depression and anxiety. On this basis, demanding classes six days a week only adds to the overall stress instead of enhancing the learning experience.
Studies also reveal that teachers too perform better when given adequate time to plan and rest. According to a report published by the National Education Association, overworked teachers are less efficient, and often suffer from burnout, leading to decreased productivity and effectiveness in teaching.
Therefore, we urge the school administration to review the current academic schedule, consider the well-being of its students and teachers, and put an end to mandatory Saturday classes. Our mental health and overall well-being should not be compromised. It is time to change this unjust system. Sign this petition if you agree.
