Eliminate Anti-Homeless Architecture in the United States

The Issue

My cousin, like many others in our country, has lived homeless his entire life due to circumstances beyond his control. His parents' financial struggles have forced them to constantly move from city to city, only to find that there are few safe places for them to rest. This is not just their story; it's the reality of countless individuals and families across America.

Anti-homeless architecture - such as spikes on benches and dividers on public seating - is a growing issue that exacerbates the hardships faced by our homeless population. These designs are not only inhumane but also dangerous, making living conditions even more challenging for those who already struggle daily.

According to a 2020 report by The National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty, there has been a significant increase in laws criminalizing homelessness across U.S cities over the past decade. Such policies do nothing but further marginalize our most vulnerable citizens.

We need change now. We urge lawmakers and urban planners alike to reconsider these harmful design choices and instead focus on creating inclusive public spaces that respect everyone's right to exist safely within them, yet cities hurt people because they have less, and this is a violation of civil rights/

Please join us in calling for an end to anti-homeless architecture throughout the United States. Sign this petition today because everyone deserves a safe place in our society.
