Eli Lilly has been hit with lawsuit after lawsuit in regards to the drug Cymbalta, which was approved by the FDA in 2004. Cymbalta (or duloxetine) is an SNRI meant to treat depression, anxiety, and pain. The problem is that Cymbalta has a dangerously short half-life: 12 hours to be exact. This makes for a mental health drug that is almost impossible to get off. The withdrawal of Cymbalta, even when "properly" weaned under the care of a doctor, is debilitating. Some simple research will show you the pain & suffering people are facing because of this drug. The withdrawal is comparable to coming off of a hard drug, substance, alcohol-- symptoms that would never be experienced with other SSRIs or SNRIs. Eli Lilly is well aware of the short half-life of Cymbalta and the severe withdrawal that will take place because of it. They've lost in court, being forced to release the details of their clinical trials, which are alarming. There is an outpouring of people facing the withdrawal of Cymbalta with seemingly no end in sight. Most prescribers don't even realize the danger of this drug. Big pharma does not want you to know.
