Elektron octatrack is marketed as a device for "radical transformation" of audio material, yet it lacks a granular engine for just that. Granular resynthesis allows for truly limitless transformation of pre-recorded material. A granular devices would greatly improve the capabilities of the octatrack.

As a composer of experimental electronic music, I bought the octatrack to replace my computer as an audio transformation tool and while it is amazing in many ways, the lack of granular resynthesis is a huge gaping hole in its feature-set.

Minumum parameter-set for the grain engine/device:

• Grain-size
• Density
• Pitch-jitter
• Size-jitter

A suggestion:
Many parameters are needed to truly harness the power of granular synthesis and normally the device-editing page only has 6 parameters, corresponding to the 6 knobs on the panel. I therefore suggest that additional parameters would be made available using special "effect" devices, that go into the effects slots of a grain-engine track. With two of these, it would allow for 12-parameters!

5. Pan-jitter
6. Pitch-env (bipolar +/-)
7. Pitch-jitter
8. Direction-jitter
9. Filter base
10. Filter width
11. Filter jitter

With this incredible amount of parameters, the grain-engine would become one of the most powerful available as a hardware device, greatly improving it's functionality for existing owners and attracting many new customers!
