Elegoo must compensate Centauri Carbon owners for AMS that will never be produced
Le problème
Elegoo commercialized the Centauri Carbon in February 2025 as an innovative CoreXY 3D printer at approximately $300 USD. A key feature was prominently advertised: compatibility with a Multi-Material System (AMS) enabling multi-color and multi-material printing—a technology heavily promoted at launch.
However, in November 2025, Elegoo officially announced that the AMS module would no longer have a release date. Instead, they announced a version 2 of the Centauri Carbon would be released with an integrated AMS module. This functionality, which influenced many customers' purchasing decisions, will likely never be available for the original machine—a broken promise to thousands of early adopters. Some of whom paid for pre-orders even before the first units were delivered.
To benefit from the AMS system, Centauri Carbon owners now have only one option: purchase the new Centauri Carbon 2 at approximately $600 USD—double the original purchase price.
The compensations currently offered by Elegoo are insufficient and inadequate:
A $50 USD purchase voucher valid for 3 months on filament (with a $100 minimum purchase requirement)
A 1-year warranty extension
An $80 USD discount on the Centauri Carbon 2 purchase
These offers fail to compensate customers for:
Marketing deception based on a promised feature never delivered
The initial investment in a now incomplete machine
The exorbitant cost of upgrading to the Model 2
Elegoo must offer all Centauri Carbon owners (purchased before November 2025) one of the following options:
Significant partial refund with no purchase conditions or expiration deadlines
Fair trade-in program: Accept Centauri Carbon machines in exchange for a substantial discount on the Centauri Carbon 2 purchase
More generous store credit with no minimum purchase requirement and valid for at least 1 year
Consumers placed their trust in Elegoo based on unfulfilled promises. This situation reflects a lack of accountability to its global customer base. Fair compensation is not only equitable—it is a commitment to consumer trust and loyalty.
Elegoo has the potential to be a recognized and respected leader in the 3D printer industry. Doing the right thing by its customers would strengthen this reputation and demonstrate corporate integrity.
We urge Elegoo to acknowledge its responsibility and offer equitable compensation to all Centauri Carbon owners affected by this decision.
The community of makers and 3D printing enthusiasts deserves to be treated with respect and integrity.
Sign and share widely to show Elegoo that its customers expect better.
