Keep polling stations out of Canadian schools!

Keep polling stations out of Canadian schools!
The Issue
Canadian schools across the Country are being used as polling stations for Provincial and Federal Elections.
Holding Provincial and Federal Election polling stations, on school days, in our schools...is NOT acceptable.
The safety risks associated with this are unacceptable.
Voters are walking through our schools, surrounded by our children.
ANY other day, this would not be acceptable.
We, as parents/guardians, are required to have thorough criminal record checks before we are accepted as volunteers in the school system. We cannot walk through the school without signing in, cannot walk the halls without a pass.
Risks include:
- Adults walking freely through our schools
- Drivers without the knowledge of how our school parking lots operate
- No accountability for who is coming and going
- Using our school washrooms as general public washrooms
- Voters and Polling Station officers bringing unsafe food onto the premise (nuts in a nut free school)
- People leaving tired, aggravated and inattentive after long lines.
Let's not mention any dangerous people, or people with ill intent.
We have plenty of alternate locations. In our riding there is an unused community centre right next door, a perfect option.
With all of the safety drills, lock-downs our children exercise, don't you find it absurd that Elections Canada and our School board consider opening our school doors to anyone and everyone on Election day?
Please sign your name to request that Election Canada reevaluate their polling locations. We understand the importance of access and availability to all Canadians. We as protectors, hope that Election Canada understands the importance of our children and their safety.
Get out and VOTE Canada, let's just keep it away from our schools!
