More and more solid science is emerging that shows GMOs have already become the single worst health hazard in the USA, worse even than vaccines, being linked with staggering increases in the incidence of cancer, diabetes, arthritis, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer's, gastrointestinal complaints, countless other chronic diseases and even permanent modification of our own human biology by mutating the microbiome at the genetic level. Roundup-ready GMO crops are resistant to Monsanto's flagship pesticide, Glyphosate, which allows farmers to spray their crops more heavily than ever. It reduces land to a toxic wasteland unfit to grow anything else but GM crops and resistant weeds within 30 years. Monsanto declares Glyphosate to be safe. That is hardly true, since about 75% of the 250,000 cotton farmers in India who, inescapably bound up in contracts with Monsanto and unserviceable loan debts, used the weedicide to commit suicide. Instructions warn users not to spray near watercourses, an ineffectual measure which can never prevent the weedicide from entering watershed systems. Several European Union countries have banned it. In addition, the wetting agent Polyoxyethylene Amine (POEA) added to it in Roundup CT is a proven carcinogen. Product labels do not even declare the presence of this substance at all - much less cite it as an active constituent. GM produce comes heavily laced with Roundup residue. BT corn, the insecticidal crop, is the culprit behind decimation of the bee population and evidence is emerging that it profoundly affects the human gastrointestinal tract. Evidence has also emerged showing that America's FDA has secretively concealed the knowledge of all this and more among 44,000 pages of documents deemed "not for public release", which were either leaked via Wikileaks, or forced into the public domain by invoking FOI statutes, or both. The documents reveal that the public, without its knowing consent, is the unwitting guinea pig in the biggest biological experiment with humans on the entire planet - conducted by biotech corporations operating under a Rockefeller-style business model - especially Monsanto - with the American government's blessing. It's a global crime of epic proportions. The FDA has ignored warnings from its own scientists, as well as countless doctors and scientists throughout the world. Australia's TGA and FSANZ often reflect FDA policy, which is not good enough. We need to protect our health and that of our children. We cannot do it when staple foodstuffs are contaminated with artificial organisms and their byproducts. We, the signatories of this Petition, demand the total removal of biotech companies, especially Monsanto, and all their products, including all GMOs and pesticides, from Australia, forever. This extends to making all GMOs and GMO-sourced products or processed foods containing any such products unconditionally illegal in Australia. In order to make this possible, it preeminently requires Australia to withdraw from the International Trade Agreement in its existing form and not rejoin it until the Trade Agreement removes certain key elements which place multinational corporate interests above the interests of entire national populations. This is because Monsanto abuses it to protect its commercial interests against the fundamental tenets of Democracy and the will of the People.
