Fund PBC ACC FY2022 Budget To Increase Spay/Neuter Programs & Reinstate the Shuttle Prog.
-In South Florida, the pet overpopulation crisis hits us like a hurricane season that lasts all year round.
-Our streets and shelters are always flooded with cats.
-In the past decades our County has allocated millions and millions of dollars towards directly and indirectly attempting to deal with the effects of this costly and deadly human made disaster.
-Because our communities have not invested in large numbers of timely and easily accessible free spay neuter programs, we are still today, facing a brutal storm of breeding that creates a flood of litters of kittens on our streets and in our shelters .
-Only a small percentage of these homeless animals make it to the shelter while a large population ends up on the streets facing starvation, illness, injuries and victims of human and animal predators.
-We can solve this costly and deadly situation that kills our domestic companions and threatens the health and safety of the people and animals of our community....
-We urge you to please:
1.Fund more free spay and neuter clinics on more days, including weekends
2. Reinstate the Spay Shuttle -mobile spay/neuter to be able to travel to the areas that need the services the most along with education
3. Hire additional Animal Care and Control Field Officers assigned to directly providing hands on help with community cats - TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate and return).
