REPAIR SCOTCH BONNET CRABBING AND FISHING BRIDGE

REPAIR SCOTCH BONNET CRABBING AND FISHING BRIDGE

The Issue

Save Scotch Bonnet Fishing Pier

The Scotch Bonnet fishing pier, a former railroad trestle located on Stone Harbor Boulevard, has been closed. It was closed due to concerns over its structural integrity. It now sits derelict, forgotten, with no immediate plans for its repair. A total disregard for the populace that used its worn boards for fishing and crabbing. It was an easily accessible area for locals and tourists alike to gather and catch a meal, or simply enjoy a day out with family and friends.
The fact that the Scotch Bonnet pier sits rotting with no plans for its revival is completely unacceptable. We are in a time where fishing regulations and publicly accessible fishing areas are becoming increasingly restrictive. We need places like Scotch Bonnet to be kept in good repair and accessible so that families and friends have a place to go to fish and crab. Fishing piers like Scotch Bonnet are too few and far between. It needs to be preserved. It needs to be repaired. We need access again.
Please sign this petition to show you are concerned about Scotch Bonnet fishing pier and helping to preserve fishing and crabbing access for the future. If we lose this area others will likely follow. We cannot afford to lose any publicly accessible fishing areas. We cannot afford to lose Scotch Bonnet.
