Protect the Sun Inn, Bentworth, from change of use to a private dwelling

The Sun Inn in Bentworth, Hampshire, is a much-loved pub that is a focal point for a community that extends far beyond the parish boundaries. As an archetypal country pub, the warmth of the welcome from the ever-professional landlady and her staff, quality of food and drink, and friendly atmosphere, have made it a community asset.

The pub has been advertised for sale for several months, and sadly it is now the subject of a planning application to convert it to a private dwelling.

The Sun Inn is at the heart of the Bentworth community, and a cornerstone of village life. We believe that the the Sun Inn should be recognised as a key community asset and protected from closure so that it can continue to serve residents and visitors in years to come.

We urge East Hampshire District Council to reject this planning application, and to recognise the Sun Inn with protection as a community asset.
