For a school that has 92% non - white students it is obvious that Long Island City’s diversity rate is high but with this diversity comes a new found underlying racism of students by the very staff that is supposed to educate them and guide them. Amidst the recent George Floyd case that has arisen it is clear that the principal, Vivian Selenikas has been extremely deceptive when attempting to console students taking her 9 days to actively show support but  in a half assed manner. If she really cared it would not have taken her 9 days and endless complaints for her to address the topic. Many students have come out of hiding revealing their own personally experiences with racial prejudice with teachers at this school. ( @exposinglichs on ig) .Even Mr. Scott, an ex- faculty member has come out with his distraught experience at LIC highschool . It is not to late to help these students and bring this in to light. Start a new beginning for LIC Highschool. We need to hold everyone accountable and ensure a safe environment  for students now and upcoming.
