Unfortunately  things are becoming desperate and time is running out for our badgers in Northern Ireland. The Minister of Agriculture, Edwin Poots (who is a farmer himself, which I believe does not put him in an impartial position in the first place) has released a proposal to allow a farmer led cull of badgers in high incidence areas of TB. While I totally appreciate that TB is of concern, experts in this area believe that the evidence is NOT there to support a random cull. A trap/ test/ vaccinate/ release policy would seem to present a more sensible long term approach. Also farmers need to take more personal responsibility for animals in their care.

The proposal so far does not put any onus on the herd keeper.
 As a member of Northern Ireland Badger Group We would appeal to the compassion of the public to stand up for our beautiful, gentle Badgers and wildlife  and get behind this petition, we only have several weeks to try and reverse this MONSTROUS AND CALLOUS ATTACK ON OUR INNOCENT AND UNSUSPECTING BADGERS proposed by EDWIN POOTS, minister of Agriculture.
