Provide a full outline of the current status of the renovations of the Cantiague Park ice rink directly to the families of the Nassau County Hockey program. · Publicly announce a projected completion date for Cantiague rink renovations. · If delays occur beyond that date, to communicate directly to the families of the Nassau County Hockey program · Outline contingency plans for the families of the Nassau County Hockey that provide consistency in schedule and equivalent ice time commitments. This is what we got last Saturday and now another week is gone and no communication.... Friends and Families of the Nassau County Hockey Program, Thank you for interest in the Cantiague Park Ice Rink renovation process. I wanted to reach out to you all at once with this email so to alleviate any miscommunication and to also get the correct message to everyone at the same time so there is no misconceptions. First of all the County takes pride in running a first rate hockey program under the direction of Mark LaMarr. As you can see below, Mark had sent out an email to the entire hockey program back in July updating them on the renovation process. As you can see in that email we were relaying to everyone that because of a few delays in the renovation process that were out of our control, we would be able to start using the Cantiague Park Ice Rink in September, and the good news is that it is September and we will begin using the Ice Rink at the end of next week. We are very excited that the Nassau County Hockey Program will have a New Renovated Cantiague Park Ice Rink. We have expanded the Rink to be the same size as the players in college and the NHL play on. We have upgraded the ice making system that makes the ice on the rink. We have installed the boards and glass from the ice rink from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. We have refurbished all the bathrooms and locker-rooms. We have installed new bleachers and painted surrounding areas. We also will be putting down new matting throughout entire rink area. And we will have a new lobby/entrance for our hockey family. And lastly we will have a new community room for hockey meetings and party’s. The misconception that work had stopped or stalled at the rink is nothing more than misinformation. The contractor, along with our County Staff, have been working tirelessly almost every day since July to get the Ice Rink up and running. The delays have been frustrating and disappointing to you as well as to us here in the Nassau County Parks Department as we really do take great pride in the Nassau County Hockey Program and look forward to its continued success for years to come. These overdue renovations will ultimately result in a better experience for all of our hockey players.
