No Black Student Debt

No Black Student Debt
The Issue
No Black Student Debt (NBSD) is a research-driven social-impact initiative aiming to shrink America’s widening racial wealth gap. Founded by a direct descendant of enslaved African people, NBSD addresses the urgent debt crisis at the intersection of racial injustice and economic inequity.
As compounding crises highlight systemic inequity in all sectors of American life, a single question defined a year of research about the relationship between America's racial wealth gap and the student debt crisis. Should the descendants of enslaved Black Americans be in debt for education?
View The Case for NBSD, our Summary for top-line takeaways, Statement of Purpose for our intention, and Objective as our North Star. noblackstudentdebt.com convenes educational resources about America's racial wealth gap while framing the imperative to address the intersecting crises of racism, economic inequity, and student loan debt.
Why start here - why start with Black student debt? Studies show that student debt and the racial wealth gap reinforce each other. Absolving Black student debt is a pragmatic first step in addressing America's student debt crisis. NBSD alleviates suffering, shrinks the racial wealth gap, incentivizes education, and makes a material commitment to rectifying centuries of racial discrimination and wealth extraction.
With one simple objective, NO BLACK STUDENT DEBT advocates for material solutions to material problems. Join the cause, sign our change.org petition, follow us, and share the case for No Black Student Debt far and wide.
