The new 96-second film, which was produced pro bono by award-winning educational media specialists TrueTube, has already been viewed thousands of times on social media. It shows an adolescent girl struggling to count change in a shop, followed by a boy who is unable to read the instructions in a new packet of medication, and concludes with two teenagers in a half-lit room having a faltering and uncertain conversation including the boy telling the girl she has to do something because she is his girlfriend. It ends with the prompt: “Imagine if we treated any other subject the way we treat sex and relationships education.” The film aims to shift the conversation on SRE by highlighting how bizarre it is that we equip young people with skills like maths and literacy to navigate everyday life situations, but give them no tools to help them find their way through relationships. Please help us spread the word by sharing the film on social media and encouraging your followers to sign the petition!
