Why this petition matters

For everyone that does not know what sexual coercion is it can be defined as: unwanted sexual activity that happens when you are pressured, tricked, threatened, or forced in a nonphysical way. Coercion can make you think you owe sex to someone.

I believe everyone under the age of 16 within secondary schools should be educated on the issue of sexual coercion within sex-education, as this topic is just as important and prominent as issues such as rape and consent. Very few people really know what sexual coercion is, and it was only made a criminal offence in recent years.

If more young people can be educated on sexual coercion then maybe we can stop this issue from being such a frequent yet unspoken matter.

This petition has become even more prevalent in today’s climate, with so many women now speaking out against sexually motivated crimes against them, it makes education on the matter so much more important and necessary!
