The issue this petition looks to address is the implementation of Covid-19 vaccine mandates/passports at the cost of individual rights and freedoms. The erosion of individual freedoms historically has led to some of the most devastating events throughout history. Civil liberties were often the first thing to be surrendered or taken under the guise of the "greater good".

Vaccine passports and mandates open the door for society to repeat the mistakes of the past with the technology of the present. The decline into tyranny is often slow and gradual, freedom is slowly eroded until it’s too late to act.

As Police Officers it’s important to keep these historical lessons in the forefront of our minds. Should mandates be implemented for the public we will likely be the ones enforcing the implementation. This could include forcing vaccinations on people, arresting and detaining people who are healthy but unvaccinated and perhaps worse. These people could be friends, family or co-workers.

As such we must fight for the individual right to choose without fear of persecution. Segregation within society has never been looked upon kindly in the history books. This is not meant to dissuade people from taking the vaccines but simply to oppose mandates and passports in support of peoples right to choose what’s best for them, their families and society.

Signing this petition simply means you oppose the implementation of vaccine mandates/passports within our organization and the City of Edmonton and support freedom of choice.
