SAVE Edmond's Hafer Park

The Issue

Help us save Edmond’s Hafer Park and the beautiful woods near it from over development and apartment units.

Developers are AGAIN attempting to ruin Hafer Park by cutting down the trees on the south side of Spring Creek and constructing 300 apartments. The apartments will extend from the swing sets in the SW corner of Hafer all the way to the east past the duck pond, with retail west of that. Most of the trees across the creek will be wiped out and replaced by asphalt paving, concrete, and buildings. The natural wildlife habitats will be destroyed, and the animals that have found sanctuary will be forced to flee. WE MUST help save our parks and natural wildlife habitats that surround them! WE MUST speak up for those that cannot!! WE MUST protect the little nature we have in this city!! There are plenty of other places to build, plenty of other places to develop – we should not want to sacrifice the limited trees and forests we currently have in our city.

This latest attempt by developers is only 300 apartments on part of the property, with a single entrance for them….a mere beginning to the larger project that will allow traffic to cross the creek on a new bridge, come out by BancFirst and pour into the neighborhoods west of Bryant – which will involve development of all land between Hafer Park and 15th, and Hafer and Bryant. Do not be confused…this is not a one and done, not a we’ll try to preserve as much of the park as possible….it is the beginning of a larger project that is based solely on money.
