Good Afternoon Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters
In this update we will cover
1) Request for information from the 21st February 2020
2) 10,000 Signature Paper Petition Progress
3) Security at the Stations article
In response to questions asked of local MP’s on the 21st February 2020 I am still waiting to receive a reply
The Paper Petition started off well with 1500 signatures collected in the first two weeks at Leppington and Edmondson Park Stations. It slowed this week due to other commitments but I have had a couple of ideas.
Thank You to one Commuter from Leppington who brought in 100 signatures and to everyone else who brought back their Petition sheets with signitures.
The ongoing issue of the Carparking Chaos at Leppington Station was highlighted by #9News again on Tuesday the 25th February 2020. The NSW Government response to over 4 years of Carparking Horror and 2 years of Campaigning for #MoreParkingNow is to ask Commuters and Residents in South Western Sydney to "bear with us" and be patient.

Nour Ahmad student journalist wrote this article about the Car Parking Chaos at Edmondson Park and Leppington Stations for her assignment with a focus on safety of commuter – You can read the article here https://hatch.macleay.net/commuter-parking-crisis-prompts-safety-fears/?fbclid=IwAR0rVFrEhlvJvm-JZtfNTdhLrrvlg1dZUkD_kO1HDDGsjeIFBYRE2JEKBPk
“One woman commuter from Oran Park, who asked not to be named, stressed the dangers the lack of parking presented to young girls and women in particular.
“It’s very dangerous, especially in the winter,” she said. “We essentially have to walk in pitch black darkness to our cars as there’s no adequate lighting”
She is not alone in her worries as some commuters have even taken to social media to voice their frustration.”
The question is will the commuter chaos at Leppington Station be eased with the state government committing to the creation of 1000 new car spaces?
"The Camden area is the fastest growing local government area in the country, where we are welcoming more than 100 new residents every week," says the Camden Mayor
In my opinion, the additional 1000 spaces hardly cater for the existing Commuter overflow at Leppington Station. With 5000 new residents moving into the Camden area each year this does not allow for the future planning at all.
PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR A COPY OF THE PETITION SIGNING SHEET to Extend the South West rail link- if you can get as many family members, friends, neighbours, clients and work mates to sign as possible and you can post it back to me or email me to arrange a collection
