Good Morning Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters

It’s been an exciting few days with the various announcements from both the Liberal and Labor Parties about funding more parking spaces at Edmondson Park Station where it’s finally become a two horse race BUT WHAT ABOUT LEPPINGTON STATION?

WITH THE NSW STATE ELECTION FAST APPROACHING NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE ACTION

I will provide things that you can do over the next few weeks like

1)      Email the Premier and Opposition Leader - Cut and Paste email provided – PROVIDED AT THE END OF THE UPDATE

2)      Write letters to the editor of the local papers emails provided

3)      Send a Message to the Transport Ministers (Liberal and Labor) – Cut and Paste with email provided to come

4)      Attend the Rally on the Weekend – Date & Time TBA will be a Saturday Morning at Leppington Station

5)      There will also be emails  sent to the Opposition Leader to ask for an explanation of Labors Promises

And I hope that you will get involved to achieve the best possible outcome for the community before the State election, while we voters still have some bargaining power.

This is my take on the situation at present but please I would love to hear your thoughts also.

THE PREMIER OF NSW ANNOUNCED MORE PARKING AT EDMONDSON PARK STATION.

You can watch the Video Announcement via this Link https://www.facebook.com/156518791029277/posts/2437992196215247/

On Wednesday the 23/11/18 the Premier of NSW Gladys Berejiklian finally made an announcement that the Liberal Party will fund 700 additional Car Parking Spaces at Edmondson Park and I truly welcome that announcement (especially after the 10 months of lobbying and Petitioning on behalf of our Community)

The Premier heaped praise and accolades on Holsworthy MP Ms Melanie Gibbons for all her HARD work in getting the Government to commit to the Project.

It's seems that the Premier has conveniently ignored the last 3 years of reporting by the Local Papers, the Lobbying by Local Labor MP's (State and Federal) and the Online Petition with over 7100 signatures plus the 5 Hard Copy Paper Petitions that were presented to Parliament by 5 local MP's both Liberal and Labor, not to mention the numerous emails and letters sent to the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure and Transport for NSW by me and others.

I have No problem in giving Credit where Credit is due but in this case I just can't give Ms Gibbons ALL the Credit like the Premier has, especially when clearly all the credit is NOT hers to take.

It's Great Ms Gibbons was giving the Privilege to make this announcement on behalf of the Government as her marginal electorate is one of 5 State Electorates affected by the Car Parking Crisis but in my opinion the real credit for this outcome goes to YOU the Residents and Commuters who backed and signed the petitions.

This is a Win for People Power via Petitions.

Now to get a commitment for Leppington Station also.

THE LABOR PARTY ANNOUNCES EXTRA FUNDS FOR EDMONDSON PARK STATION.

On Friday 25/1/19 Opposition Transport Minister Jodi Mckay announced that Labor had forced the Liberal Party into acting on the Car Parking Crisis and in doing so made the same fundamental mistake as Gladys Berijiklian by not acknowledging the people at all.

YES I admit Labor did make the first election promise the build a Multi Level Carpark at Edmondson Park back in April 2018 but NO it was not just the pressure from the Labor Party that forced the Liberal Government to make its $40 million announcement last Wednesday. The reason both major political parties have made a Commitment to build Multi Level Car Parks is because of YOU the Residents.  Without the Online Petitions and the 5 Paper Petitions that were lodged in Parliament and their own Labor Party Petitions late last year they would still be talking in circles.

Politicians on both sides need to understand that it is the people that vote and without the people the parties wouldn't exist.

An Article was published in The MacArthur Advertiser (and also the Wollondilly Advertiser) which you can read using this link https://www.macarthuradvertiser.com.au/story/5868188/additional-parking-to-be-built-at-edmondson-park-train-station/

The Article covered comments on the Car Parking Announcement from the Liberal Party, the Labor Party and also from me.

I am thrilled by the announcement of more parking at Edmondson Park but I want to ensure that Leppington isn’t being forgotten.

My goal has always been to have both major parties commit to funding at both Edmondson Park and Leppington before the State election therefore the Car Parking Crisis Campaign must continue.

Dear Premier Berejiklian

SUBJECT – WHAT ABOUT LEPPINGTON STATION and IS 700 spaces enough at Ed Park ?

Thank you for announcing that the Liberal Government will provide an extra 700 spaces but with over 300 cars already parking on the roads and with Development only about 50% complete in the area plus another 2800 dwelling from Landcom is this enough for current plus future demand?

Also WHAT ABOUT LEPPINGTON STATION? There is a major Car Parking Crisis Happening there also which is just as bad (If not worse than Ed Park). Development has only just started in the area and the Commuter Catchment area is substantially larger that Edmondson Park.

We the community of South Western Sydney need a Multi Level Carpark at Leppington that will cater for future demand not just a Bandaid solution to win votes at the Election.

I look forward to your prompt reply after experiencing years of neglect and months of stalling tactics from your Minister for Transport on the issue of the Car Parking Crisis in the South Western Suburbs.

Yours Sincerely

SUBJECT – WHAT ABOUT LEPPINGTON STATION and IS 700 spaces enough at Ed Park

Dear Mr Daley

Thank you for announcing that the Labor will match the Government and provide an extra 700 spaces but with over 300 cars already parking on the roads and with Development only about 50% complete in the area plus another 2800 dwelling from landcom is this enough for current plus future demand?

Also WHAT ABOUT LEPPINGTON STATION? There is a major Car Parking Crisis Happening there also which is just as bad (If not worse than Ed Park). Development has only just started in the area and the Commuter Catchment area is substantially larger that Edmondson Park. $16 Million and 300 spaces is nowhere near enough.

How will the joint funding work from the Federal Government and what happens IF Labor doesn’t win both State and Federal Elections?

We the community of South Western Sydney need a Multi Level Carpark at Leppington that will cater for future demand not just a Bandaid solution to win votes at the Election.

I look forward to your prompt reply regarding the solution to the Car Parking Crisis in the South Western Suburbs.

Yours Sincerely
