Stop Racism in Edison Schools

The Issue

5/28/2021: our boys are home! But the fight continues …

Thank you all for your support! But the reason it all began has not changed and we have not forgotten. The good news: the boys will NOT be charged with any sort of felony or felonious assault and that is behind them. THANK YOU!! We do believe the Prosecutor’s office had the comment section removed from the petition. (We have the majority saved anyways ;-) ) Your stories aren’t gone. We are glad you could finally share and tell everyone who the REAL victims have been. Reach out with any questions or if you need help. There is more to come.

: **We have been told Mr. Goodwin is up to "Opening conversations about racism in the school** While this sounds like it is much needed, this does NOT bring back the life of Kya or help Trayvon or Tate who are in DH awaiting pre-trial for a 2nd-degree felony. Again- this was NOT felonious assault. There were NO weapons and the  was NOT injured.  was at Cedar Point less than 10 hours after the incident, able to cut  hair into a mullet, drive around listening to music, go out to dinner, shoot guns, etc. (and yes, there is proof of all this). Trayvon and Tate are locked up, handcuffed, in orange jumpsuits, and not allowed home. We have taught our boys to always stick up for those who cannot speak for themselves and this is what has happened. Trayvon and other minorities at EHS have suffered in silence long enough. Again, the school was contacted on multiple occasions and this could have been prevented. They do not deserve felony charges and the possibility of prison until age 21 (PRISON- NOT DH). Any help you can give to share this, get this in the news and bring light to what has been done at Edison Schools will help. Kya and her family are forever grateful for your love and support- as are we. May we give her the voice she couldn't find for herself.**

Our small, rural school lost a child to suicide approximately 3 weeks ago. Her sibling made a promise to never get into a fight at school, no matter what. This has been difficult as he has been bullied and tormented. Another student has made comments daily saying things like “Your sister is better dead than being a N—— lover”  and has also threatened .   has called the one POC in the school a “N—-“ daily.   has told members of the LGBQT+ community they are “f—“ and body shammed most of the females in the school.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning.   has asked for nudes of girls and threatened them with violence when  doesn’t get his way.   was caught showing pornographic material to 4th graders on the bus.

You may be asking why hasn’t anyone turned this   into administration.   has been. Multiple times. By students. By parents. Nothing has been done or we have been told “it was handled” while   continued.

Unfortunately, things came to a blow this past week when 2 freshman students could no longer watch the bullying and racism. The student of color and his best friend. Watching their friend who just lost their sister to suicide being tortured daily was enough. When administrators did nothing, even after 3 emails from a parent that day, a fight broke out. Nobody was injured. The boys - Tate and Trayvon- received 5 days suspension and lost their post-season track career. They understood while sticking up for their friend and defending Trayvon against racism is RIGHT, school violence is not.

BUT.. that’s not where the story ends. The racist student's  made death threats all weekend to Tate. The family told many people how they couldn’t wait to sue these families and watch them burn in court. That their God is OK with racism. (We have receipts).  was uninjured and at Cedar Point all day the following day. However, Tate and Trayvon have been charged with felonious assault. No injuries. No weapons. Being charged with a FELONY. Help us save these 2 bright, young, 3 sport athletes who stood up for what was right before they lose their chance at life.
