Bring Prophet of Kruphix Back to EDH

The Issue

Prophet of Kruphix is a fun and flavorful card that many players, my friends, and myself would love to be able to play in EDH.  Prophet is a very unique card that does not have a home anywhere else but in EDH.  Banning her from the only format that she is actually good at is a real shame and I believe the entire magic community would benefit by having access to this interesting card.

Prophet of Kruphix was banned by MTGCOMMANDER.net, the site that manages the EDH ban list, in January of last year.  With this petition, we are hoping to politely make a case that PoK should be unbanned in this month's round of updates.

MTGCOMMANDER made the case against PoK, stating that "Casual groups haven't been able to work around it..."  To me, this statement is curious.  The first thing that comes to mind is that a large majority of EDH players play in casual groups. And all of those groups are equipped to destroy at 2/3 creature. Casual players, although casual, also tend to be quite adept magic players and will easily figure out a "work around" to defeating the Prophet.

MTGCOMMANDER also asserted, "Ultimately, it seems the card (Prophet of Kruphix) is too perfect."  I respectfully disagree.  PoK has an incredibly fragile body standing in at a measly 2/3, is extremely vulnerable when she is cast, and is still quite squishy even after untap.  I would hesitate to call that “perfect”.

She does not allow you to draw cards or gain card advantage, she does not deal real damage, she is not part of an instant win combo, she is not a kill spell, she does not destroy lands, she doesn't gain life... she can't even attack or block well!

What she does do well is allow you to play creatures at instant speed and accelerate the rate at which you can play those creatures as well as other spells.  And that is why she is awesome.  Not a game-breaking awesome, just regular awesome.

Please sign the petition and we will submit our request to MTGCOMMANDER.

To MTGCOMMANDER,

While I have listed all of this out, it does not mean I disapprove of the work you put into the format.  I do however, think that this particular ban was unwarranted.  Thank you for being a steward of the format and treating it with the attention it deserves.
