Resignations of Scott Cooper and Albert Talbert

The Issue

The citizens of Edgefield County, holding “all political power” as granted by Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution of South Carolina “to modify their form of government” and in keeping with the Supreme law of the land, the Constitution of the United Sates, in maintaining and securing a Republican form of government do rest upon the unalienable rights established and bestowed by our Creator, and in recognition of the following usurpations of County Council Chairman Mr. Scott Cooper and County Council Vice Chairman Mr. Albert Talbert demand their immediate resignation or removal from office.

As it is not within the nature of the good citizens of Edgefield County to engage in insubstantial or transient causes for removal from office, the offenses against the people must be recognized and addressed.

Mr. Scott Cooper having been twice censured for engaging in political and economic intimidation of the people of Edgefield County and again for actively participating in activities that directly oppose the principles of republican governance by betraying the expectation of respectable representation of the people of Edgefield County.

Additionally, Mr. Scott Cooper has further engaged in subversive activities by circumventing the people of Edgefield County in claims that the Land Management Ordinance (LMO) was done away with when in fact the Planning Commission continues its zoning efforts through inclusion and modification of existing county ordinances using the same language and premise as the failed LMO.

Furthermore, Mr. Albert Talbert and Mr. Scott Cooper engaged in illegal lobbying activities with the lobbyists of the Caddis Solar Company, having received entertainment and “thing of value” from Caddis, LLC energy company in direct violation of South Carolina Code Ann § 2-17-80, South Carolina Code Ann. §2-17-90 in failing to disclose said gifts, entertainment or meals.

Both Mr. Albert Talbert and Mr. Scott Cooper failed to represent the people of Edgefield County and have routinely continued to engage in self-interest activities at the detriment to the good faith and will of the people of Edgefield County.

Therefore, we, represented citizens of Edgefield County, having retained all political power, demand the Resignations of Mr. Scott Cooper and Mr. Albert Talbert, effective immediately.

Hereby, let the voice of the citizens of Edgefield County, serve as to note our resolve and steadfast adherence to the founding and governing principles of this great republic shall not be discarded for any financial or political gain of the individual, and as a reminder to any current or future elected, employed or appointed officials in Edgefield County SC, of their duties and obligations to the people.
