Dear Supporters
The Planning Application IS IN!!
We have today received notification from Eden District Council that they have received a planning application from Harmony Energy for the proposed 77m (250ft) commercial wind turbine on Barrock Fell.
The application is now in the process of being verified, and it is expected to be allocated a planning number and to go live on the EDC website some time next week.
We will contact you again once this happens to let you know the planning reference and exactly how you can submit your objection.
In the meantime, please help us by forwarding this email and the details of our petition to as many people as possible who may wish to object, to help us spread the word about what is happening.
We need as many people as possible to object to the turbine, which will:
- irreparably damage our beautiful local landscape and views
- pose a risk to our large numbers of protected species of birds, bats, moths and other wildlife
- ruin the quality of life of many local residents in terms of noise, shadow flicker and their related health impacts
- spoil views and beauty spots for local visitors
- interfere with our community broadband initiative
- lower local property prices
- damage the local tourism economy and businesses
- make a lot of money for only the developer and landowner, whilst locals pay through their taxes and other losses
A submission on the run up to Christmas was just what we suspected the developer might stoop to, and sadly this is exactly how it has happened. We will need to work doubly hard to make sure we gather as many objections as we can at what is such a busy time for everyone. We know from the recent Ainstable campaign, also in our part of Cumbria's beautiful and tranquil Eden Valley, that a huge show of public opinion can and does make a difference. Ainstable received over 800 objections, and the planning committee were struck and influenced by the sheer numbers in opposition to the turbine. We only hope that we can achieve a similar result - to do this we will need your help!
If you live locally and can spare some time to help us distribute leaflets and gather signatures, please do get in touch as soon as possible.
Thank you for everything you have done to support us so far.
With all best wishes,
The NO2AWT Committee
