The village of Edam is in dire need of a Subway. Edam has nearly 500 inhabitants, most of whom are students. That is incredible; however, what is not incredible is the lack of job opportunities for students in the area. The only available jobs are either at LEAST 20 minutes away (which is less than satisfactory given the current state of gas prices), or at a mechanic's shop, which not all students are capable of. And even with those jobs, there are only so many positions; sure, there is more availability during summer. But there aren't many positions for those places anyway. So,  with all of these facts at hand, I believe a subway would be the greatest decision. Not only would it not compete with any of the local companies here (the coffee shop and Chinese food places, which are all we have), but it would also cause more people to come to Edam. Thus leading to more money to the village for more quality-of-life things (paving 2nd Ave and other roads, fixing the crazy bumps in the roads, etc). I also believe that after having a Subway long enough, it would inspire more people to create creative shops of their own, then causing a better economy for Edam. And, who doesn't like Subway? Literally nobody. And not only would the Subway create more opportunities for students, but it could create more opportunities for adults as well, so that both (especially students) can find a good job that gives proper pay. And where would the Subway be, you may ask? Well, I believe a good place for it would be to either renovate the old gas station just by the highway or to take advantage of the empty lots for sale throughout Edam. And I would be more than happy to come to a village meeting to further explain my point.
