Today my family got another call from STM telling us that "Ethan is absent from school today." Of course he's absent- he has been dead for two weeks now. Not only is this utterly disrespectful towards my deceased brother but this is outrageously rude towards my family and I. Ethan's attendance record should have been changed when the school was notified about his death. We should not be receiving attendance notifications TWO WEEKS after his death. It is clear that St. Thomas More Catholic Junior High has no respect for the deceased and the grieving families. I ask all of you to spread the petition, and contact ECSD board trustees and the superintendent about the audacity to remind a grieving family constantly about their son's death. I also urge you, if you can, to attend the ECSD Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 24th, and bring up the lack of respect STM has and the underlying issues the school still tries to hide from the public eye.
