Happy Valentine's Day petition supporters!
Thank you all for supporting the small communities of the central Adirondack Region of New York State. In particular, my hometown of Tupper Lake! A year ago this coming week, on February 18th, I decided that it was time to take action! I love to alpine ski, I love to live in the Adirondacks, and I love my hometown.
For over (18) years, our local ski slope has been sitting idle while the courts, and the lawyers, and the speculators, and the conservation groups all fought over the ACR and its adjoining development. Unfortunately for Tupper Lake and our neighboring communities...our number one economic engine was caught in the middle of this debate.
In 2009, a group of dedicated volunteers and regional businesses decided to revitalize Ski Big Tupper under a movement known as ARISE. This helped for a few seasons, but it wasn't sustainable.
Today I am reaching out to you folks to let you know we are on the path to re-engineering this dormant ski slope into a sustainable, economically sound, environmentally friendly, recreation venue for everyone to enjoy!
But we need your financial support to keep this crowd-funded effort moving forward. Please consider a small or large donation to the Tupper Lake Recreational Plan. Our first goal is to get the property back in the control of our local government so we can find a suitable partner to operate the ski resort. This Town Board action will help make that happen!
Thank you and enjoy the rest of your Winter 2021 season!
Kind Regards - Rick Donah, Big Tupper advocate and petition organizer.
