Petition updateStop castrating gorillas!Reply from Neil Bemment, vice-coordinator of the Gorilla EEP

Mr. Bemment's recently posted "clarification" contains two promising statements. Unfortunately they are not very precise and therefore raise more questions:
Statement 1: "No more gorillas have been nominated for castration at this time."
Questions:
— Does it mean you leave the door open for resuming castrations at any time the EEP deems appropriate?
— Are there still gorillas due to be castrated, nominated previously? More precisely, what about the castration recommendations as of January? Have they already been castrated, or did you take (some of) them off the list?
Statement 2: "It is not intended that any more gorillas will be castrated until the Gorilla EEP is satisfied that it does indeed work as we hypothesise."
Questions:
— How many years will you allow to evaluate the hypothesis that "[castrated] males can live compatibly within their family group and without undue psychological / social consequences"?
— In short, has the EEP agreed on a moratorium, as we are asking?
