Raise the EDining Minimum Wage & Feed Students

Raise the EDining Minimum Wage & Feed Students
The Issue
Dining locations on Eastern Michigan University's campus are suffering from a labor shortage, not because people do not want to work, but because of depressed wages. Students are being paid minimum wages to operate dining locations on their own. In return, there are only a few locations open that close by 9 PM leaving many students hungry. If a location is open, there is typically only 1 kiosk with a line of 15-25 students waiting to order and even more waiting for their food. In the kitchen, there are typically only 1-2 student workers trying to manage all of the orders. Due to the chaos, students have reported being served undercooked food and moldy bread. If wages were raised, student workers would have more financial support, and would not have to suffer alone. Higher wages = more workers, more options, more stock, and longer hours.
Workers deserve more.
Students deserve more for the prices they are paying for required meal plans.
