There are not enough doctors working at some hospitals in the Eastern Cape. For example, Madwaleni Hospital will have no doctors at the end of July if new contracts are not issued.

It is imperative that more doctors are provided for the following reasons:

To allow healthcare facilities to remain open and effective.
To provide essential services to adults, children and pregnant women to prevent significant loss of life and morbidity.
To address the burden of HIV and TB in the Eastern Cape.

Without these changes the communities of the Eastern Cape will be severely affected.
