Knox County has 6 water district utilities that all pay (approximately $55K/year for fluoride and $88K on corrosion control) to have our public drinking water fluoridated. Numerous scientific and peer reviewed studies have shown that fluoride has little to no positive affects on teeth strength and avoiding decay, yet this is the reason we are given for why fluoride is added to our water.

This fluoride is called Hydrofluorosilicic Acid and is a toxic by-product of the aluminum smelting and nuclear industries. Ingredients in this compound include arsenic, mercury and lead. This is considered hazardous waste.

Even more studies have proven that there are many harmful side effects to our health posed from ingesting fluoride. These include, but are not limited to, a higher risk of Alzheimers, osteoporosis, lower IQ and brain function, infertility, thyroid dysfunction, and calcification of the pineal gland (our intuitive and reasoning center in the brain). Most dentists agree that if there is any benefit to fluoride, it is when it is applied topically such as a toothpaste or mouthwash. However, too much fluoride causes mottling of the teeth also known as dental fluorosis.  Healthy adult kidneys can only excrete 50-60% of fluoride while the rest accumulates in the body and bones throughout your lifetime. Bottle-fed babies are the most at risk since they are ingesting primarily liquids. What's worse, babies' kidneys are only able to excrete about 20% of fluoride out of their system, thus keeping 80% of the ingested fluoride in their bodies which will continue to accumulate over their lifetime.

There is no reason why the officials should add this confirmed "neurotoxin" to medicate our water without our consent. I'm sure if the public was fully *and accurately* informed of the risks, they would want it removed. 90% of Europe has removed fluoride from their water and 40% of Tennessee has removed it from their water. Let's add Knoxville to the growing list and make our water safe to drink again!
