CLOSE EAST SIDE UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOLS TO PREVENT COVID-19 SPREAD!

The Issue

The COVID-19 disease, also known by its more popular name, the coronavirus, has been spreading throughout the world at an unprecedented rate, and it seems to be sparking another 'flame' in California.

Throughout the bay area, many schools and their corresponding districts have already been closed due to one single case of COVID-19 in their area.  As a student, I am concerned with not only my classmate's but my community's general well being. In a school with over 2,300 people in it DAILY, there is bound to be at least one student or staff member at risk of being infected by a person they know or even a person out in public.

The disease is known to have an incubation rate of about 5 days- about the length of a school week. Why should we wait until we know only one person has the illness? By that point, countless others may have already been exposed and at risk of fully developing this terrible sickness. This petition will be sent to our district's (East Side Union High School District) offices, in addition to:

-The Board of Trustees

(Consisting of Lan Nguyen, the Board President, Van Te Le, the Board Vice Pres., J. Manuel Herrera, the Board Clerk, Pattie Cortese, and Lorena Chavez, both Board Trustees)

-(most importantly) Our district's superintendent, Chris D. Funk.

This petition will not only help us reduce the risk of spreading any possible strain of COVID19 to fellow students and their families.

Thank you for your support.
